In the Forbidden City

Built in 1406, the Forbidden City was first dwelled by 24 of the great emperors of China. So highly regarded they were that the place these royalties call home was made to have three gates to secure the area, and the ground inside was not meant for commoners to step their foot on.

Of the three gates, the one closest to the inside is called the Meridian Gate. The gate, if seen from outside, seems to have three main entrances, but from the inside one can see that there are actually five entrances located parallel of each other.

It was feng shui that influenced the architecture of this gate, in fact the rest of the city. It is said that the architecture will allow more evil spirits to be lashed out from the city, while as there are only three visible entrance on the outside, less evil spirits can come in.

The entrance in the middle is meant only for the emperor to pass in and out. No others can do the same, except for certain exceptions.

The first exception is for the bride of the emperor, who may pass through the gate to go into the city but only once, that is on her royal wedding day.

The second exception is for the scholars, who may go out of the city through the main gate on the day they pass the Imperial examinations.

The second exception can be translated into how highly the Chinese value their scholars, and in a large, education. Imagine, when no one else can, graduates of the Imperial examinations were granted exit in a royal manner through the emperor's gate.

This gives a different light to the saying, tuntutlah ilmu hingga ke negeri China, doesn't it?

And what's the lesson learnt from the first exception, any ideas?

Lakonan semata

"Berlakon"....kali ni gua kena berlakon betul-betul. Susah betul nak hidup, semua kena berlakon. Tapi kali ni gua kena bagi 100% untuk scene yang satu ni. Lebih dr segala effort dan concerntration.

Esok jam 9 pagi tepat dah kena terpacak kat depan pintu masuk NHS(National Health Service). Scene pertama. Awal-awal dah mesti jumpa doktor, tak dpt buat appointment pun kena jugak-jugak buat. Dah kira urgent. Gua tak sakit atau kurang sihat, tapi gua memang "kurang sehat".

Jam 11 pagi tepat pulak kena terpacak depan pintu bilik Dr. Dave Hobbs. Scene kedua. Dia tak de kalu...tunggu jugak sampai dia masuk. Gua musti jumpa jugak-jugak dia. Dia lah satu-satunya harapan gua.

27/05/2004...gua kena jadi seorang penipu/pendusta/pelakon ulung. Kenapa?? Pasal gua tak dapat siapkan design Video Visual Effects. Submission is on 28/05/2004 - 12noon. Sampai mlm ni tak de satu pun hasil yg gua dpt dr software Maya 5 ni. Gua memang tak de mood langsung nak buat. Tak tau kenapa. Dan tetiba jugak badan gua rasa sejuk sangat-sangat. Menggigil. Kepala pusing. Dalam 2 3 hari ni bangun je dr tido mesti kering tekak. Tanda nak dapat selsema. Sepantas kilat syaitan hasut gua. Jadi pagi esok badan mesti penat, otak kurang cergas, mata mesti bengkak/merah, denyutan nadi mesti tak stabil. hahaha....memang setan. Sebab muka gua kira masih suci dr meminta tangguh kerja, harap harap berjaya la hendaknya.

megalomaniac

"How Is Manchester?"...."yeaahh"(screaming..out loud) a sound effect + lighting + fogs (UFO movie in the making)...guitar tunes coming in...then drums....then all the instruments move in....(lyric)"i hear you on the radio...you permeate my screen...its unkind but...if i met in a scissor fight...i'd cut off both your wings...on principle alone...(screaming continues) hey...megalomaniac! you're no jesus! yeah, you're no fucking elvis! wash your hands clean of your baby...step down! step down! step down!..."

haha...it was so bloody f**kin great. i went to INCUBUS concert last friday at MEN Arena manchester. i really enjoyed myself because that was my first concert/gig in 2 years. and i really looking forward for it. i was accompanied by liza and nadia. why them?? there were the only person who wanna go. not even my classmates, bradfordians, manchester's buddy. they don't like incubus. but...who ta hell? i love Incubus.

we arrived at MEN Arena at 7pm. we walked...liza's house just 20 minutes walking distance to the arena. at first, i thought it i just too old for that concert. thousand of crowds were teenagers. 14 - 20 yr old (may be)...but i dont gived a damn...i want incubus. by 7.15pm we entered the concert arena. we got lower tier seats..but it was good as our position just really nice...facing straight to the stage. by 7.35pm Brand New, an emo-rock band from England, made the openning act. damnn...they were really good. they really made me wanna move my body. the guitarist so emotional. he jumped, screamed, dived, banged his head. above all...he threw his guitar on air, caught it back and continued playing like "hell". after almost 40 minutes and 7 songs, they were off. then the crews took almost half an hour just to make the Incubus's stage setting.

during that period, i had a chat with an english couple who sat nex to me. that was their first incubus concert too. after a while the arena lights turned off. pitch black. then came in the sound effects from the guitar, scary, psychedelic. after a moment then the incubus took the stage. megalomaniac, taken from their latest album, a crow left of the murder, sounded on the air. i was automatically screamed along woth crowds and sang the song. as for liza and nadia they just sat down and watch the whole show...they dont know the songs. hahaha...

besides incubus acts on the stage, i really enjoyed watching a groups of kids whom seat just a row infront of me. they are incubus "true" fans. they knew all the songs, they jumped, screamed like hell, they danced...haha...i just felt like wanna joint hem. but...hmmm...no...forget it. let me just enjoy my self.

i did took some photos of the concert but i can't upload it. as those pictures were taken using liza's phone and she don't know how to transfer it to pc. as for me...i really don't know howw to do it cause i've never used camera phone before and i also don't use mobile phone in here. so...later...

How's everyone doing?

Haro, haro.. how's everyone doing? Well, actually I knew how everyone's doing, cause I got in touch with everyone recently:

1] Mr Poket, who still calls me "Dearie", and he promised we'll soon meet. (Gotta thank Mr Neo for his new ex-gf-can't-get-me-here mobile number.)

2] Mr Neo, who said he's busy with studies and fending off certain attacks from a Latino chix, but misses me a lot. Now isn't that nice?

3] Mr Smeagol, who wanted to do teh tarik but in the end he figured out he's too tired after that meeting he had last Friday. Cinta konon...! You stood me up you Gollum thing! You're gonna pay for this!!!

Anyway, as for how I'm doing.. Let's see.. I need to get in touch with myself first eh..
