Thunder, thunder, thundercats!

This morning I got into the lift (trying to get to work here, mate!) and saw Gems the resident cat of Seri Mas Condo perched in a very uncomfortable manner in one corner of the lift. I said my usual "Good Morning" to him but received none of his usual meow-back replies.

So I cast him another look and saw that all his fur is standing tall on his back - he must have been spooked by something! My mind went straight to recall the movie Dark Water, yup, that Japanese horror flick which centres its plot mainly in a lift, with the main antagonist-ghoul having an keen interest in standing in one corner of a lift, really not much different from what Gems was doing.

I was quickly drowned in fear - yup, right there in the middle of daylight but hey, I was in a lift so I easily let that fact slip off my mind, that's what you get with an overactive imagination - but maybe I was lucky (maybe not), the lift finally reached the ground floor and it opened its door as it should.

My exhale of relief had barely escaped my lungs when I realized that another resident cat, this one's called Orangina (yeah, a bad name for a tomcat who needs to emphasize on his maleness, but he's stuck with it) was already waiting outside, ready to pounce.

And pounced in he did! Gems and Orangina got into a growling fight before a nice, rent-paying tenant (me!) could step out! I tried to get past the two but these brave fighters were using most of the space, as much as required in an official gymnastics tournament!

The lift's door has a default ajar setting of 8-seconds before closure. There I was, almost trapped in with two cats in the battle for the maiden (OK, maybe the female cat they were fighting for is not quite that) attention, in full fear that I might get shit and other stuff spewed onto my lovely office pants (read: my sister's leftover Levi).

I knew what I had to do. I knew I had to do it fast. With the lift's closure looming, I jumped out! I Charlie Chaplin-ed my landing, juggling the stupid Dell laptop and a borrowed chic-lit book in my arms (that's Sue's Devil Wears Prada) and managed to get out of the lift!

Hooray! Hip hip... hooray? Hallo, where's my right shoe? Hallo? Hallo?

The lift's doors began to move, one from the east, the other from the west, and the two pieces approached each other in a steady manner, swiftly but not fast enough for my eye to miss my sweet darling right shoe, lying all black and lonely in between the two bickering resident evils!

Before I could hit the lift's button outside, up it went, leaving me all intact save for a right shoe.

I had to stand on my left feet for the next two minutes before that particular lift came back down. This time the cats were missing - they probably found the need to take the duel outside - but there were two guys in smart-looking suites ready to get to work and another girl armed with a Pokemon slingbag and a plastic folder instead.

I quickly leaned on the wall next to the lift and put down my right feet as low as I could without touching the ground, hoping the three people will not notice my separa-barefootness. It is a good thing that yuppies and students make up the majority of Seri Mas tenants, they are all in need to get going as quickly as their feet can take them - in other words, the lift was quickly left barren and none saw my pretty naked right foot.

I went in and saw my shoe, this time pushed to a corner instead of ditched in the middle of the small human-mover area. It was as clean as I hoped it would be, though there were a couple of cat furballs billowing around nearby.

I had to make the trip up - someone above had called for the lift, but that was OK, I got my shoe back and that is the important thing here. When it got to the fifth floor, the door opened and there was Orangina and Gems, still at each other's throats!

No way I'll let these two back in! I must have pressed the "Close" button for about a thousand times before the doors did its job. Hopefully whoever it was trying to get in from the fifth floor will forgive me for not granting entry, but hey, I was just reacting from my newly-acquired phobia here..

Pilihanraya, pilihansiapa

Virus Mirus Pirus

We're losing our JPEG files like a cat losing its hair when it licks itself clean. It survives eating graphics, the colors are like vitamins for its daily intake.

And I'm also getting and sending emails from and to people I don't even know, and I can't stop them or myself from doing that. Our emails had stupid titles like "Hokkie :)" and "Waiting for your respond".

Yup, we have a couple of virus painting the town red in our servers.

The bad news is our system is going through an upgrade so the bulk of our so-called broadband connection is taken up by the people in the ISD. Which means all of us are left with a lot of time for teh tarik and chit chat cause downloading of the antivirus patch takes a loong, looong time. Not to mention grunting through the PhotoStation machine to reseek our lost photos.

The good news is I'm getting a lot of new e-panpal through all this. In this new e-circle I suddenly found myself in, it was a lady called Suzy who started the whole thing - she bulk-mailed about 17 people and said "I think you guys are sending me virus, but I might be doing the same thing. Thousand apologies from me to you, and while I'm at it, I hereby forgive you too ;))"

It turned out that she works in my co as well, and she's a senior writer with a lot of wit and crazy speeches. I haven't met her yet but I think like her already.

We all responded to her email, many of us saying about the same me thing - I replied that I had guessed as much, and that it's the virus-author's noble intention trying to help us socialize with more people.

Suzy said I might have a point there, and asked if I knew who this noble-hearted author is? I said I wish I knew, so that I can wring his neck to twisties. She shares my sentiment...

So I gotta say sorry to Neo san, if that virus that attacked your PC may have came from my end. For the record ours had a different name, but nonetheless with same destructive impact so what's done, is done.

Anyway I had sent a reinvitation to Sir Leman, hopefully we'll get to read an update from his end soon. I heard he's dating this hot babe...

to know malaysia... is to love malaysia

it was 1pm on march 12,2004 when hussam al-osta, a jordanian friend, came and seat next to me in the computer graphic's room. i was about to leave for the jumaat prayer. he then said to me..."don't forget bout this evening!" then i realised that we're going to have a gathering after maghrib prayer at his flat. i replied "orait man. i'll see you there".

after jumaat prayer i went to city center. just to messing around the cold and rain. i went to the music exchange store where every single things about music is selling at half price. they are the used item actually. i did go around the store and found The Extreme cd selling at 4 pound. i grabbed it and moved around again. then i found The Beatles's Abbey Road E.P, Revolvers and Sgt Pepper cds selling at 6 pound each. suddently i remember that i promised liza to get her the beatles collections. so i picked the Abbey Road E.P. i would like to take all of them, but when think it back the sterling papers inside my wallet, i have to choose one among them. so i took the Abbey Road. then i moved again to another shelf and found RHCP - By The Way. and it is 6 pound also. i took it. so i spend 16 pound on the shop alone for 3 cds, which i may only manage to have a copy of cd if i buy it from the general music stores like HMV or Virgin Megastore with that amount of money....so i went back home.

by 4.30pm as i stood in front of my laptop and suddenly i just got to remember that i have promised my collegues for 'nasik lemak'. so i send a message using MSN to hussam and asked him whether i can cook it at his place. he was so excited and just said yes.

at 6.45pm i met hussam and ongky, a malaysian chinese who was the man that made me promised to cook nasik lemak, at the entrance of hussam's flat. so we went up. i brought the ingredients for the cooking, and we started to make the best dishes ever in the world (according to ongky). hussam gave me some hands during the process as he show me where is the rice cooker, the pans, the plate, the bowls, the spoons, bla that bla this bla bla bla....

after about 15 minutes, anna (a bolivian chick)arrived with 4 packs of Walker crisps. hussam then took out a 2.1 litter bottle of coke from the refigerator. we have some chats, eat crisps and drinking coke while i was cooking the 'sambal'. a moment later chin, a taiwanese (hussam's housemate), and his girrlfriend, pipi, got back from an unknown place. so...the chatting continued. pipi was so interested in knowing bout malaysia. ongky was telling her what is malaysia and i did adding some spices to his explaination.

then the tv was showing the le Tour de Langkawi. ongky was going insane as he saw kl in the screen. then anna was showing her 'amazing' face as she saw the scenary of kuala lumpur. she never thought that kl is such a nice and beautiful place.

ok...it's makan time. the 'fat rice' is ready. so everybody rushed to the table and get their plate and queing for the rice. hahaha...macam budak sekolah nak ambik makanan rmt(rancangan makanan tambahan). as the chef for the day, i gave them an equal amount of rice each.(hehehe) then ongky helped me in showing them how to eat nasik lemak. where to put the sambal, what kinds of things can be eaten with the rice. but it was poor as the meal is not complete. there was no 'ikan bilis' goreng and 'timun'. i forgot bout the timun and there's no ikan bilis. there is..actually, but not the small size one. so i have to ignore it when i saw it in the supermarket. so we just having nasik lemak with terlur rebus and sambal. it was ok for everybody else as they are from asia, so no problem with the hot sambal. but it was different with anna. she cannot stand the spice and...poor anna. hahaha...but she loved it. so anna and pipi kept on continued asking about malaysia while we eat and watching le tour de langkawi. so i and onky explained everything that came out of the screen. and i told anna about the kl tower and the twin tower. she so emazed with them especially the twin tower. she said she had heard bout the building and that is the only thing she know bout m'sia. her father is an architect and he really wanna see 'her' live. i told her that there is a hanging bridge that linked both towers....hehehe guest what?? she wanna come to m'sia after graduating. that evening was the moment that really make me proud to be malaysian. when a stranger wanna know and so excited to know something bout you and really amazed and appriciated what you got...what else can give the explaination.

after that we watched friends(the last season's episodes) followed by will n grace followed by sex n the city(2nd last episodes). pipi, she is crazy for those progs. i laughed when watching friends. a lot and loud. but she was 'a lot-er' and lauder than me. what the heck?? she enjoyed it so much. while ongky, chin and hussam discussing something bout 3D animations and computer games, me, pipi and anna enjoyed the shows so much. we were laughing, screaming,....especially pipi.

at 10.35pm, phil, another mother land of china's man, would like to make a leave. so did me, ongky and anna. before we left chin asked me for another nasik lemak for the next gathering. "ok. and next time i will make a complete meal. nasik lemak, ikan bilis goreng, more sambal, telur rebus, kacang goreng, timun, and may be some daging masak merah." (hehehe...i'm a good cook now. staying here made me learned to cook. alot)...."nasik tomato also" ongky completing my statement. "hahaha" all of us laughed.

then we walked down the street and seperated at the jucntion. anna and ongky took the route to city center as ongky have to take bus to hurddersfield(he live there - 30 minutes from bradford) and anna, she live in another uni hall next to the national musuem of television and photography. phil took the route to cineworld(cinema) as his girlfriend is waiting to watch a midnight movie. and i took the way straight back to university as i have to cross university's in order to get back to my house. it was friday night and it was really dull.

What's lurking?

Hey thing has been pretty quiet around here.

It could be cause everyone's busy. Eat, sleep, work, bitch about work. Now that's a lot to do, you know.

It could be cause everyone's settled into a comfortable routine that there's no room to do anything else but what's on their daily schedule. Eat, sleep, work, bitch about work. Eat, sleep, work, bitch about work. Eat, sleep, work, bitch about work.

It could be cause everyone's got something more interesting to do, like eat, sleep, work, bitch about work...

Alright, alright! That's just me! Yep, it's the Tua Sebelum Waktunya syndrome looming!

p/s: Leman Spy, I'll get you reinvited on Monday OK... Our server's damn slow this week, I can eat two tempayan of ice cream before one page gets loaded up completely...

master of puppets

it seems that i am the only one who active in blogging for the past few weeks. may be because i have such plenty of leisure time. but that's fine, i know you guys are busy with workloads and other things.

i went to liza's house and stayed there for the whole weekend. nothing to do there, just i need to borrow a book form salford university. 'The Subcultures Reader' for my Issues In Digital Media Design module. i am working on a revision of 'punk'/'underground' movie, which is supposed to be my feature project. so i have to look into the subcultures term to understand why punk/underground music and society always refer to the rebelious group. this revision is somehow related to my plan, the movie that i planned with Mikhail as the character. (i'm sure siti will remember this). and the book is out on loan in my university's library...even in bradford college's library. as the alternative i have to make an inter-library loan. but it will takes bout a week before i can have it. i have to use the book by this week as my presentation in on 8 March. to make it faster, i asked liza to borrow it form her university and i went there last weekend to collect it.

i just stayed in liza house for the whole weekend, didn't go anywhere as the weather is still cold. on the saturday night i just watched tv eventhough there were no interesting programmes. bout 10.30pm liza came down and joined me. because nothing great to watch, i just have some chats with her, and in between the conversations i changed the tv channel. it was a puppet show. has similar characters to the Sesame Street's. so i just sticked on to the channel. and nak jadi cerita la...it was an adult puppet show. sex...sex...sex and just sex. there was a scene where the puppets went to the arts gallery. and one of this puppet, he is a purvert i think, keep on looking at a naked woman's painting. after that i can saw his hands moved so fast, and later a laungan kesedapan terdengar. cisss...tak guna betul. ada ka tunjuk puppet masturbating.(ini 18sx nya article)

aku dah ternganga laa...liza had already laughing. waaa..shamed on me to watch it with liza. i quickly changed the channel and sticked to a rugby match. bloody hell...what is this society think of right now. they even use the medium which usually targeted to kids to show those unusual behavior on tv. are they too open minded or are they already lost their life's value....hehehe

adooi...malu gua ngan liza mlm tu. nasib baik housemate liza yg lain kat bilik masing-masing. if not..i didn't how to react on that situation.
